India’s Indian government unveiled on Tuesday its “Agnipath” scheme which aims to change the face of the army forces. Unveiling the program the defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that it’s a revolutionary initiative that will give a younger image to the army.

“Under the Agnipath scheme, Indian youngsters will be provided an opportunity to serve in armed forces as Agniveer,” Rajnath Singh said.
It is believed that the Agnipath plan is being implemented to improve India’s security, said the official.
The “Agniveers” will receive a good pay package, as well as an exit retirement plan after serving for 4 years, the defense minister declared.

The move is part of an attempt to reduce the increasing pension and salary costs with the biggest concern that this will negatively affect the professionalism, military character, and spirit of the more than 14 lakh soldiers.
Major General Anil Puri said that Agniveer is a part of the soldier who is ready for the future.

“Agniveer would be India’s young protector. After being with us for 4 years, an Agniveer’s resume and biodata will be very unique. He will stand out in the crowd with his attitude, skills, and time he would have spent with us,” Puri said.
Army Chief Gen. Manoj Pande said that the Agnipath scheme is aimed at bringing about an entirely new approach to recruitment within the army.
The program will maintain a balanced equilibrium between young and experienced within the Army He added. The plan is intended to boost the level of battle readiness by ensuring the top candidates are selected through a transparent and rigorous selection procedures.
What exactly is the Agnipath scheme?
Agnipath is a pan-Indian merit-based recruitment scheme to recruit airmen, soldiers, and sailors. This scheme offers a chance for youth to be part of the regular army and the military. Anyone who is selected under the “Agnipath” scheme will be known as “Agniveers”.
Agniveers are enrolled for four years which includes a training phase. After four years, just 25 percent of the applicants will be kept or re-enlisted into the regular cadre based on merit, readiness, and medical fitness.
They will then serve an entire term of 15 years.
The first four years that were contracted, will not be considered in the calculation of the final pension benefits.
The remaining 75% of Agniveers will be released by a re-entry as well as a “Seva Nidhi” package of Rs 11-12 lakh. It is partially covered by their monthly contributions along with the ability certificates and bank loans to assist in their new careers.
Recruitment
The candidates will be registered in the relevant service act for four years.
• Centralised, transparent and transparent screen assessment of merit and performance demonstrated in service.
* Candidates can apply for a position voluntarily and be enrolled in the regular group.
If any Agniveers achieve martyrdom, full compensation for not yet completed services will be paid.
Seva Nidhi
* Up to 25% of Agniveers will be chosen as regular cadres based on an open, central system after four years.
* Candidates can apply voluntarily to be enrolled in the regular group.
* They’ll have the right to medals, awards as well as insurance protection, similar to the regular army of sailors, airmen, and soldiers.
*Corpus in the amount of 10.04 lakhs and accrued interest is exempt from income tax, after four years.
Death Compensation
* Life insurance coverage that is non-contributory of 48 lakhs.
* Ex Gratia of 44 lakhs on the death of a service-related victim.
* Pay for an unreserved portion for up to four years, including the “Seva Nidhi” component.
Disability Compensation
* Compensation is based on the definition of disability in the medical authority.
* One-time ex-gratia amount of Rs 44/25/15 lakhs to cover 100%/75%/50% of disability.
