83 UG and 40 PG Courses Offered at SWAYAM – University Grant Commission Confirmed – The University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced of 83 undergraduate (UG) and 40 postgraduate (PG) courses at SWAYAM for the July 2021 semester. These courses are not related engineering degrees. SWAYAM is expanded as Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds Imitated by Ministry of Human Resource Development (M.H.R.D.) now controlled by Ministry of Education.
In March 2021 the UGC framed a list of regulation to conduct Online courses by University. This New Regulations, 2021 allowed institutions to offer up to 40% of the total courses in a particular programme in a semester through the SWAYAM platform. UGC India Tweeted that “83UG & 40PG Non-Engineering MOOCS to be offered in July-2021 Semester on the SWAYAM Platform”
Due to second wave of the COVID-19 Most of the colleges and Universities conducting their classes and Semester examination on online mode only. UGC doesn’t provide any guidelines to conduct the online class and Semester examination. All the regulations were created by colleges only. Each college follows its own rules. Now UGC has involved to create rules and regulation for Online courses.
Now, UGC has urged universities and colleges to make optimise the use of the SWAYAM online platform and popularise SWAYAM courses amongst students through websites and various social media handles.The UGC letter suggests: “SWAYAM Courses may be approved and adopted on the recommendation of Dean Academics/Heads of Department for credit transfer and ratified by the Academic Council.”
